I Am...

So - as a part of Resident Assistant Training here at UM, Ashley asked her staff to compose a little "Getting To Know You" poem thing that they would share sitting around a campfire making 'smores. The only requirement was that it had to be at least eight lines long. She asked me to take part in this little activity, and - of course - I felt the need to fling it across the Internet like so much poo and see what sticks where...so here is the Director's Cut of my I AM list.

I am...why 12-step programs for caffeine addiction exist.

I am...a beer snob. Unlike some of you, I am old enough and experienced enough to be able to make this claim.

I am...an unabashed, unashamed Shire-loving, vampire slaying, Browncoat wearing, X-file investigating, Starfleet enrolling, movie riffing, counting down with Jack Bauer, LOST watching, membership card carrying, resident of Opal City nerd.

I am...trying to daily live out my faith, not a facade.

I am...neither defined nor defiled by my past.

I am...not sure where the boundaries between my head and heart exist when it comes to issues of social justice - and I like that.

I am...blessed to be able to spend multiple hours every day with the love of my life, my best friend and partner in this life: Ashley.

I am...learning to redefine the concept of love every time I pick up and hold my son.

I am...unsure of where my life's journey will take me, but I'm finding the faith to walk the path laid out before me.
